With minimal moving parts, they are built for longevity and ease of maintenance, and they keep performing through vibration, extreme temperatures, dust and saltwater exposure, which makes them ideal for marine, mining, and oil and gas applications.
When should I choose an air starter over an electric starter?
Consider an air starter when you need low maintenance (fewer moving parts than electrical systems), safety in explosive or highly flammable environments (reduced risk of sparks), and adaptability to diverse operating conditions across many industries.
What is the difference between turbine and vane air starters?
Vane air starters use a sliding-vane air motor that produces high starting torque at low speed. They are lubricated in service (the SS100 is lube-free) and are the standard choice for small and mid-size engines. Turbine air starters use a compact turbine motor that is lighter and does not need lubrication, which makes them the usual choice where duty cycles are punishing and service access is limited.
